We begin our journey to the charming district of Santa Elena, the birthplace of the silleteros. During the journey, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the Antioquian mountains while you disconnect from the urban rhythm and connect with the soul of the countryside.
Our first experience will be at the Arví Park Natural Reserve, a green lung full of biodiversity. There, we will take a light walk along trails surrounded by native forests and visit the famous farmers market, where you can buy fresh produce, handicrafts, and typical delicacies directly from local producers.
Then, we will arrive at the beautiful El Pensamiento farm, where the silletero farmers will greet you with a warm welcome and a delicious canelazo, a traditional drink that warms the soul. The best begins here:
Grab your silleta, walk proudly among the flowers, and feel part of this unique tradition. Take advantage of the scenery to capture your best moments, share your photos using #TourDeLasFlores and tag us on Instagram: @caminoscolombia. We want to see your experience blossom!
Does the silleta owe its name to its shape and the use it was given years ago? This was used as a means of transportation by the silleteros to go down from the mountains to Medellin, carrying their flowers and people.
Start your day full of energy before a tour that will awaken your senses and fill your memory with unique landscapes.
We will travel to La Ceja, a place that seems taken from a storybook, where you will immerse yourself in a sea of colors and fragrances in an export flower farm. You will learn about the planting and harvesting process up close, while we reflect on life through a beautiful analogy with the growth of flowers. To make this moment even more special, you will take home a beautiful bouquet as a souvenir of this unique experience!
Then we will head to Carmen de Viboral, a charming town known worldwide for its beautiful hand-painted ceramic crafts. Here you will discover the secrets behind these unique pieces and admire the talent and tradition of their artisans.
Enjoy a typical regional lunch, with authentic flavors that will connect you with the Antioquian culture.
In the afternoon, our route continues to Guatapé, famous for its impressive reservoir that it shares with the municipality of El Peñol, for the iconic Piedra del Peñol or Peñón de Guatapé, and for the colorful facades of its houses decorated with beautiful baseboards that tell stories of tradition and culture.
Our first stop will be at the Replica of Old Peñol, a nostalgic reconstruction of the original town submerged during the creation of the reservoir. From here, we'll embark on a boat ride on the reservoir, where you'll marvel at dreamlike landscapes, islands, and mountains reflected in the water.
For the more adventurous, the imposing Peñón de Guatapé awaits (admission not included; paid locally). If you dare to climb its more than 700 steps, you'll be rewarded with a 360° panoramic view of the reservoir: a natural spectacle that will leave you breathless.
We will walk through the cheerful streets of Guatapé, exploring its craft shops, photographing its vibrant baseboards and learning about the history of one of the most photogenic towns in Colombia.
At the end of the afternoon, we will begin the return to Medellín, with our hearts full of memories and photographs that capture a day full of culture, color and nature. Arrival and transfer to your meeting point to rest and dream about what we experienced.
Years before the Guatape and El Peñol reservoir was built, the priest Jose Dolores Giraldo, parish priest of the municipality of El Peñol at that time, dreamed of a great dragon that would swallow the entire town, years later after the flood and disappearance of all the original urban center of El Peñol, said reservoir took the shape of a dragon, fulfilling the prophecy of the parish priest Jose Dolores.
Start the day with the best energy, because today you will experience one of the most iconic and colorful events in Colombia!
Around 9:00 a.m., we will pick you up at a meeting point to take you to the heart of the party: the iconic Silleteros Parade, the jewel of the Flower Festival.
🎁 To ensure you experience this authentic Paisa experience, you'll receive a special souvenir: a poncho and a traditional hat, perfect for feeling part of this cultural celebration.
We offer a delicious brunch lunch, refreshments, and beer (2 per person) so you can enjoy the parade in all the comfort you deserve. Our team will provide you with assistance and attention throughout the event, so you can only worry about applauding and being excited.
Throughout the activity, you will have customized assistance from our logistics staff and assistance insurance so you can enjoy it with complete peace of mind.
At the end of the parade, we will transfer you back to the meeting point and, if you wish, we will take you directly to the airport for your return flight.
Extend your stay! You can add an extra night to continue exploring the magic of Medellín and its surroundings.
The Silleteros Parade has been officially held in Medellin since 1957 and was born as a boost to the market for flowers grown by farmers who live in rural areas surrounding the city, especially the town of Santa Elena.
